The run continues: AI-based software system for pathology in testing phase & professorship for Clinical AI at EKFZ

The run on AI is not coming to an end. Instead, it is accelerating: Together with the Dresden-based start-up asgen, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based software system for use in cancer diagnostics is being tested at the Institute of Pathology of the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden. To accommodate the developments and provide it with a high-profile scientific foundation, the EKFZ is currently inviting applications for a professorship in Clinical AI. Applications from highly regarded scientists are accepted until August 2.

To be filled: New Professorship in Medical Software Engineering

A new professorship is to be filled at the Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus as soon as possible to support the field of medical software engineering at the university and, as a central role in the EKFZ, to link the faculties of medicine and computer science in research, teaching and transfer. The application deadline is July 15.

Back to life, back to reality – EKFZ-Talentschmiede back in presence

The next event of the EKFZ-Talentschmiede can take place partly in presence due to decreasing number of corona infections. Next Monday, June 7th, vaccinated, recovered and up to ten negatively tested persons can meet and exchange ideas in house 19, lecture hall DINZ. The EKFZ "IntelliLung" team provides insights into their work around AI and Deep Learning in ICU.

SEMECO through to next round of Clusters4Future-initiative of BMBF

The TU Dresden wants to create an academic-industrial ecosystem for safe, highly integrated cyber-medical microsystems with the SEMECO concept and thus break the innovation backlog in the medical technology sector. SEMECO has now made it to the next round of the ideas competition of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) "Clusters4Future" as one of 15 of the 117 applications originally submitted.

At regular intervals, clinician scientists and high-tech talents from the interdisciplinary innovation projects at the EKFZ for Digital Health explain the medical or technical basics of their projects in the so-called EKFZ-Talentschmiede. In this way, the interdisciplinary exchange is also to be deepened beyond one's own project team. The next Talentschmiede will take place next Monday, April 12, 2021 and is open to interested parties.
